Tom Hanks recently learned that his Toy Story character, Woody, has a last name. The revelation shocked Hanks. The fifth part of the animated film is just one day away from its theatrical release.

The Toy Story detail Tom Hanks never knew about Woody

In his interview with BBC Radio 1, Tom Hanks came to know Woody has a surname after working in five Toy Story movies. "By the way, I only recently discovered that Woody has a surname. Are you aware that Woody has a surname?" Ali Plumb asked him. However, the Forrest Gump star replied that he had no idea. He further asked if Woody's surname could be "The Sheriff?"

Thus, Plumb finally disclosed that Woody's full name is Woody Pride. Woody's surname has been known to the audience for a long time. The film critic continued, "Jessie's full name is Jessica Jane Pride." This led to Tim Allen, who voices Lightyear, saying, "Wait a minute. I'd heard this, that they might be related." Plumb suggested that Woody and Jessie might be siblings, but Hanks exclaimed, "No! Distant cousins, please. Please!"

Hanks has been a part of the Toy Story franchise since 1995 and is eagerly looking forward to the release of the fifth installment. In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran actor shared that Part 5 has the most heartbreaking scene he has seen throughout the franchise. "There's one of the most heartbreaking scenes I've ever seen in any of the Toy Story movies — when that little girl is getting her feelings hurt by what other people are texting about her, and she doesn't understand why," Hanks said.

The 69-year-old continued, "She doesn't know what she did wrong, but it hurts, and that is a very prescient thing to have in a motion picture today about little kids and toys, don't you think?"
