Spencer Pratt is looking to go from *The Hills* to City Hall.

A year after the reality TV star and wife Heidi Montag lost their home in Los Angeles' devastating Palisades fire, Pratt announced that he's running for mayor of the City of Angeles.

The 42-year-old, who has never run for public office before, made the declaration Wednesday at "They Let Us Burn," an event organized by residents affected by the Palisades fire who aren't happy with L.A. Mayor Karen Bass' or the city council's response to the crisis.

"This isn't just a campaign, this is a mission," Pratt told the crowd. "We're going to expose the system. We're going into every dark corner of L.A. politics and disinfecting the city with our light. And when we are done, L.A. is going to be camera-ready again."

A representative for Bass, campaign strategist Douglas Herman, blasted Pratt's announcement in a statement to **. "It's no shock that in advance of his imminent book release, a reality TV 'villain' who once staged a fake divorce to boost ratings and spent the last summer spewing post-fire misinformation and disinformation to pump up his social media following, would now announce he's running for Mayor," he said.**

Pratt revealed on Jan. 8, 2025, that he and Montag lost their home in Pacific Palisades, a neighborhood located on the Pacific Coast at the western edge of Los Angeles County. A harrowing video he shared from the site of the fire was posted just one day after it erupted amid a massive windstorm that also whipped up a fire in the northeastern neighborhood of Altadena.

"Nightmare came true," he captioned the video.

Since that time, Pratt has dedicated himself to railing against Bass, the Los Angeles City Council, and California Governor Gavin Newsom for their responses to the fires. Weeks after Pratt and Montag's home burned down, they joined 20 other impacted residents in filing suit against the city, alleging that the Department of Water and Power mismanaged the supply of water in their area, leading to avoidable destruction.

The Palisades fire killed 12 people and destroyed more than 6,000 structures, becoming the third-most destructive fire in state history.

Pratt is the second reality star to throw his hat in the ring for a major metropolitan mayorship this week.

On Monday, *The Traitors* star Michael Rapaport announced his candidacy for mayor of New York City, espousing his own grievances with Gotham's newly elected leader, Zohran Mamdani.

"People are like, 'It's upcoming, it's in 2029," Rapaport said on his *I Am Rapaport* podcast. "You've got to prepare now. What would Kobe [Bryant] do? If Kobe was running for mayor of New York City, what would he do?' He'd be preparing right now. He'd be waking up 4:30 in the morning."

He added, "Did I wake up at 4:30 this morning? F‑‑‑ no. But we are preparing."
