Sydney Sweeney's character Cassie explores OnlyFans in a new storyline in Euphoria season 3
A scene in which she wears a baby costume while seemingly shooting OnlyFans content has sparked backlash online
Both Sweeney and Sam Levinson have commented on the new storyline
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Euphoria season 3 episode 1.
An outfit Sydney Sweeney wears in the new season of Euphoria has become the subject of online backlash.
In a new teaser trailer for the remainder of season 3 — the first episode premiered on Sunday, April 12 — a brief clip shows Cassie (Sweeney) wearing a baby costume while taking photos for OnlyFans in a new career move for the character.
The snippet shows Cassie wearing pigtails, white briefs and sheer, babydoll-style lingerie while sucking on a pacifier. Sitting on a couch, she holds her legs open and feet up high in the garments as someone snaps pictures of her, seemingly for OnlyFans.
The moment is part of a larger arc for Cassie, who is shooting adult content as a side hustle and a means of boosting her and Nate Jacobs' (Jacob Elordi) income. “I just feel like if more people knew me, I would be huge,” Cassie says in the teaser, just before the clip of her sporting the baby-esque costume appears on screen.
Both the costumes — in the first episode, she sports a full dog get-up — and the larger storyline have drawn backlash online.
“I don't understand how euphoria went from the beautiful masterpiece that was s1 to cassie being dressed as a baby doing OF and the show being set in a desert,” one person wrote on X.
A different user wrote, “Man, cassie from euphoria's pic dressed like a baby is so gross.”
“I just got a pic of Sydney Sweeney in Euphoria dressed like a baby, with a pacifier in her mouth, spreading her legs...I'm scared, dude,” another said. “What's the deal with this season of Euphoria?”

Elaborating on the creative decisions behind the OnlyFans storyline, showrunner Sam Levinson told the Daily Beast that Cassie has “got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humor, but what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it.”

“What we wanted to always find is the other layer of absurdity that we're able to tie into it so that we're not too inside of her fantasy or illusion—the gag is to jump out, to break the wall,” he added of the Euphoria character.
Speaking about Cassie's new OnlyFans career at the season 3 Euphoria premiere, Sweeney told Entertainment Tonight, “I mean, Cassie's a crazy character.”
“She will do anything and at all costs to be famous this season, and she makes a lot of very wild and interesting choices,” the actress said, later adding, “She will not disappoint. That's for sure.”

In the first two seasons of Euphoria, known for its elaborate makeup and costuming, Sweeney wore many revealing get-ups and shot several nude scenes. She previously revealed in January 2022 that there were going to be more, but she told creator Levinson while filming that they were not “necessary,” and he listened to her feedback.

While filming the show, she told The Independent at the time, "There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, 'I don't really think that's necessary here.' He was like, 'OK, we don't need it.' "
The actress, who was 24 at the time, also said that Levinson never made her do anything that she did not want to do.
"I've never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show,” she told The Independent. “When I didn't want to do it, he didn't make me.”
