On the heels of the *American Pie* star, 52, taking control of her Hollywood narrative by joining OnlyFans, PEOPLE reports that the actress has also quietly filed for divorce from her husband, Simon Borchert.

A source close to the situation told the outlet that the divorce filing happened "in the last few days" and the split is "rather fresh."

The source added, "Now that she is single, she wants to have a bit more freedom and be wild."

A representative for Elizabeth did not immediately respond to* *'s request for comment.

Elizabeth and Borchert tied the knot in 2021. In a Wednesday Facebook post, she appeared to hint at the split, while reflecting on recent life changes.

"There’s something about the ocean that resets everything—slows the noise, softens the edges, and brings you right back to what matters," she wrote. "Grateful for these quiet moments, sandy paws, and unconditional love."

Notably, her relationship status on the social media website has been changed to "single."

Elizabeth, who is best known for playing sexy foreign exchange student Nadia in the raunchy *American Pie *franchise, announced on Wednesday that she would be joining OnlyFans to take back control of her story.

"I've spent my entire career working in Hollywood, where other people controlled the narrative and the outcome of my career. This new chapter is about changing that, showing off a more sexy side no one has seen, and being closer to my fans," Elizabeth told PEOPLE.

She added, "I'm choosing OnlyFans because it allows me to connect directly with my audience, create on my own terms, and just be free. I really do think this is the future."

The 1999 comedy followed a group of high school friends on a mission to lose their virginity before graduation. On the heels of its success, Elizabeth was launched into sex symbol status and went on to land roles in films like *Scary Movie*, *Thirteen Ghosts*, and *Love Actually*.

Looking back on it last month, Elizabeth insists that she wasn't aiming for that trajectory when her career began.
