Jennifer Lopez is — and always has been — a Madonna stan.

On Friday, June 5, the actress and singer appeared in an episode of Track Star* and one of the songs she was quizzed on was Madonna's hit song "Ray of Light."

"This is Madonna!" Lopez, 56, said with a big smile.

"When I was little, I wanted to be like her," she said. "That's why I started coming to the village. I wanted to dress like her."

Then, Lopez said that she would "cut up" her clothes to "look like her."

"I always said to myself, I never want to get stuck. I always wanted to keep evolving. I always wanna keep doing new things," she said.

Elsewhere in the episode, the "On the Floor" singer was quizzed on songs by Janet Jackson, Salt-N-Pepa and Selena Quintanilla.

"Obviously, an important person that you have a connection to," the host said to Lopez, who played Selena in the 1997 film.

"Obviously, I played Selena in the movie. That was kind of the set-off to my career, and people are like, 'You can't go into singing.' And I was like, 'No.' You have to seize the moment. You have one life, and the fact that she died so young... it fueled a fire in me to like, 'F--- it. Go for it. Do whatever you want in this life.'"

"Do what you want to do now," she continued.

Lopez is currently promoting her new Netflix movie Office Romance, in which she stars alongside Brett Goldstein.

Speaking with PEOPLE at the premiere of the film, Lopez revealed she still found kissing scenes "a bit nerve-racking" after all these years.

"I've been doing this a long time," Lopez said, before reflecting on her experience kissing Goldstein, 45, on the set. "I want to say that I was fine, but it's always a thing. It's like, 'Okay, I have to kiss this person that I don't know, and I'm just getting to know you.' You get a little nervous, that's all."

In the film, Lopez plays a CEO at a major company who falls for her recently hired employee. Then, their secret love affair is in full swing when their characters decide to "stop playing by the rules and start following their hearts," according to the official logline.
