Jon Hamm has met his match in the form of a mysterious new neighbor.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive clip from season 2 of Apple TV’s Your Friends & Neighbors, James Marsden makes his debut as Owen Ashe, a charming billionaire whose arrival quickly shakes up Westmont Village.
In the clip, Andrew “Coop” Cooper (Hamm) introduces himself to Ashe during what begins as a friendly conversation, but it doesn’t take long for the tension to surface.
“Your reputation precedes you,” Marsden’s character tells him after exchanging introductions.

“Wow, I suppose that is my cross to bear,” Hamm replies.
“Cross to bear? No — eh, take it from me, it’s those experiences, the ones that challenge you, threaten you, humiliate you, that ultimately make your life worth living,” Marsden continues. “Otherwise we’d all medicate ourselves to the point of oblivion, until there would be no reason to get our catatonic selves out of bed anymore. Hey, you were arrested for murder — how many people can say that?”
Hamm quips back: “Most murderers.”
This gets a laugh out of Marsden, who replies: “Right.”
“Is there a Mrs. Ashe I should be saying thank you to?” Hamm asks as he looks around the crowded party outside.

“Um, no,” Marsden responds. When asked if he is divorced, Marsden's character clarifies he is widowed. “Jesus, I’m so sorry,” Hamm says.
“It’s been eight years, and I miss her every day,” Marsden adds. “That woman taught me how to live.”

Season 2 of the Apple TV thriller finds Coop doubling down on his life as an unlikely suburban thief — until the arrival of his new neighbor threatens to expose his secrets and put his family at risk.
The series, which stars and is executive produced by Hamm, follows his character, a divorced and jobless hedge fund manager who turns to robbing his wealthy neighbors in an affluent suburb.
Marsden joins the cast for the sophomore season alongside returning stars Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabel Gravitt and Donovan Colan.
