Is the catchy 'Bangladesh' TikTok the 2026 song of summer?

The summer of 2026 is nearly here, and that means we're on the lookout for The Song of the Summer this year, the one we'll remember as the tune we listened to over and over and heard everywhere. So could this year's song come from... a 49-second TikTok?

Let me explain: I have stumbled upon Bangladesh, a little ditty from a guy named Ian McConnell. I'd throw it under the genre of emo, with lyrics like "You never take me to Bangladesh, you never cook me sausage on an open flame" and "You never poison the mojitos of my enemies." That's followed by "It's like you don't care."

But it's not just that. He's done a ton of TikToks off the song, but there's one in particular that's gone viral thanks to his delivery:

The actual version is a little more straightforward:

Lizzo did a TikTok version of Bangladesh, as did others

This is such a good meme and an even better song. I think this should be a nominee for Song of the Summer.
