Love Island USA does not air new episodes on Wednesdays to give contestants a day off from filming
Contestants are monitored on their day off to ensure they don't discuss show-related topics while cameras are off
New episodes of Love Island USA air five times per week
Love Island USA fans will need to make other plans on Wednesday, June 17, because there won't be a new episode of the hit reality dating competition.
Like in the past, season 8 of the Peacock show does not air on Wednesdays, and only the companion talk show, Aftersun, airs on Saturdays. But the good news is that viewers won't have to wait long for more Villa drama.
"We edit it as it comes in," executive producer Claudine Parrish told TheWrap in July 2024 of Love Island USA, which is filmed and edited in real-time in Fiji. "The islanders wake up [and] the control room [will be] commissioning scenes based on what's happening."
She continued, "They'll label them like, 'Boys make breakfast for the girls,' and 15 minutes after it's happened, it's in our edits — an editor's on it and making it into a scene."

No, there is not a new episode of Love Island USA on Wednesday, June 17.
Why isn't Love Island USA airing tonight?
There isn't a new Love Island USA episode tonight because the series doesn't air on Wednesdays. This schedule was designed to give the contestants a day off during the week.
But because the cameras are off, the show has set a few rules to ensure that its stars save all the drama for shooting days.
Love Island UK 2017 winner Kem Cetinay told Britain's The Morning that their day off is much more relaxed than the rest of the show.

"What happens is, it gives them a day to clean the villa and you take your mics off and normally we go to the beach and we just chill out," Kem explained, per HuffPost U.K.
However, they're not allowed to "talk about anything to do with show" when their mics are off.
"You've got to talk about home life," he added. "You're being watched by ... the producers because they don't want you to talk about what's going on ... You can all sit and chat but they are quite careful about what you talk about because they want to keep it so everyone at home can see and get it on video."
When will Love Island USA return with new episodes?

New episodes of Love Island USA will resume on Thursday, June 18 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
After that, the series will continue to follow its regular schedule, releasing new episodes on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until the season 8 finale.
It's unclear when the finale will air or how many episodes season 8 will contain. According to TV Guide, the show's seventh season consisted of 37 episodes.

Seasons 4 through 8 of Love Island USA — along with the franchise's other hits like Love Island Games and Love Island All Stars —are available to stream on Peacock.
Fans who want to binge old episodes can find seasons 1 through 3 on Hulu.
