Check your medicine cabinet: Bottles of Gas-X meant to relieve symptoms like bloating, stomach pain and indigestion may end up doing just the opposite.

Manufacturer Haleon is voluntarily recalling four lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels,125 mg in 120-count and 72-count bottles, according to a June 4 notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The company said the products were distributed beginning around April 13, 2026, and are being pulled after potential contamination. Haleon said the issue stemmed from machine leakage during the packaging process that potentially caused diluted propylene glycol-based coolant to drip into medication bottles, according to an FDA notice.

Propylene glycol is a colorless, mostly odorless liquid used in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and industrial applications. It is considered safe in small, regulated amounts, according to WebMD. However, if softgels are contaminated with the substance, it could cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea, according to the FDA.

Haleon said it has not received reports of illness so far.

Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels, identified by green capsules and green-banded packaging, are used to reduce gas-related pressure, bloating and discomfort. No other Gas-X products are included in the recall.
