Mary Stuart Masterson made a rare red carpet appearance this week

The actress was photographed at the premiere of Rain Reign at the Tribeca Festival in New York City on June 6

She appeared in a string of hit films in the 1990s, including Fried Green Tomatoes and Benny & Joon

Mary Stuart Masterson made a rare red carpet appearance recently, stepping out for the premiere of her new film, Rain Reign at the Tribeca Festival in New York City on June 6.

The actress, 69, was photographed at the event celebrating the new drama, an adaptation of Ann M. Martin's 2014 novel of the same name. Per IMDb, the film also stars Paul Rudd, Jeremy Sisto, Gretchen Mol and Felice Kakaletris.

The appearance marked the first time Masterson has been photographed on the red carpet since attending a Tribeca Festival event in 2021.

Though she has kept a relatively low public profile in recent years, Masterson remains best known for a string of beloved film roles that made her one of the most recognizable young actresses of the 1980s and '90s.

Masterson appeared in 1987's Some Kind of Wonderful and went on to star in Fried Green Tomatoes in 1991 and alongside Johnny Depp in Benny & Joon in 1993.

In addition to acting, Masterson has worked as a director and an advocate for workforce development in the film industry. She founded the non-profit organization Stockade Works, which aims to create pathways into careers in film and television production and is based in New York's Hudson Valley region.

Masterson is married to actor Jeremy Davidson and the two have four children.

In January, Deadline reported that Masterson had signed on for a role in the mafia thriller Sunny, alongside Angelina Jolie, Charlie Plummer, Jason Schmidt, and Cliff "Method Man" Smith.
